Biology of Neurodegeneration and Ageing Research Group
I am a physician with more than 25 years of experience studying the biological mechanisms of ageing. I have contributed to defining the importance of senescent cells in ageing-related diseases, such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease, and I am currently continuing this research with the aim of defining tools that can be used in patients to ameliorate these diseases. Furthermore, I work both on defining new biomarkers and developing new treatments.
In addition, I direct the Faculty of Health Sciences at the UOC and do teaching and research at the University of Leicester, where I direct the Mechanisms of Cancer and Ageing Lab, which works in coordination with the Biology of Neurodegeneration and Ageing Research Group.
