Researchers at the BarcelonaBeta Brain Research Center (BBRC) will once again have a prominent role in the world’s most important congress dedicated to Alzheimer’s research: the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC 2021). The congress will be held from 26 to 30 July, and for the second year in a row all the talks and presentations will be made virtually. As a novelty, however, there will be a hybrid part (face-to-face and virtual) in the city of Denver, in the United States.
The BBRC research team will present a featured research session related to the study of the impact of confinement on mental health, and five oral sessions in which they will present research results related to genetic biomarkers (APOE-E4), cognitive , neuroimaging and fluid. They will also present 15 posters with the results and conclusions of various lines of research of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program and the European project AMYPAD. In addition to the presentations they lead, BBRC researchers are co-authors of about fifteen communications that will be presented at the conference, related to international projects and collaborations.
This year the virtual congress will only be free of charge to follow the plenary conferences and registration and prior payment will be required to view the rest of the papers.
The advances in research that the BBRC will present at the congress have been made possible thanks to the involvement of the participants in the Alfa Study, promoted by “la Caixa”, and the other studies that the center has underway. Also thanks to the collaboration with Roche Diagnostics, GE Healthcare, EIT Digital, AMYPAD, EPAD, and the Alzheimer's Association, and the drive of the thousands of members, donors and patrons of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation who contribute to the search for a future without Alzheimer's.
