Fluid Biomarkers Facility

The Fluid Biomarkers Facility aims to address the whole biomarker development workflow at the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC). This process spans from the identification of candidate biomarkers to assay development and clinical validation, to finally achieving clinical implementation. For this end, the facility’s laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art analytical technologies that allow ultra-sensitive and highly reproducible measurements of proteins.

Besides supporting BBRC internal projects, the facility also provides protein biomarkers measurements and research support, in collaboration with the Fluid Biomarkers and Translational Neurology Research Group, to researchers from different academic and research institutions, health centers, and industries. Through these collaborations, the facility aims to both get a better understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, and also provide biomarkers that are relevant for clinical purposes, such as early diagnosis, prognosis and monitoring disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
